Trip Discription:
This is one of our most popular tours and provides a good overview of Tibet for those with limited time. We take the Friendship Highway between Kathmandu to Lhasa, along the way visiting such important sites as the Sakya Monastery, Shigatse, the Shalu Monastery and Gyantse.
You will spend two days on a guided sightseeing tour of Lhasa that covers all of the major historical sites. On the eighth day we transport you to the airport for your flight to your next destination.
We can accommodate individuals and small groups (including families) on this tour. We arrange all necessary travel permits for Tibet, which requires some preparation time before we can depart in order to file the necessary paperwork.
Kathmandu Lhasa Tour Itinerary
Day 01 : Drive from Kathmandu to Nyalam (3750 m) / Overnight in guesthouse (dormitory room)
Day 02: Drive from Nyalam to Lhatse (3950 m) across the Tibetan plateau with spectacular mountain views from the Lalung-La pass (5050m) and when passing through the town of Tingri there are more views of Mt. Everest and Cho-Oyu / tour Lhasa / Overnight in guesthouse (dormitory room)
Day 03: Drive from Lhatse to Shigatse (3900 m.) tour via Sakya Monastery then cross the Lalung-La pass (4500 m) / Overnight in hotel (twin room)
Day 04: Shigatse - Shalu - Gyantse (3950 m) / Tour Tashilimpu Monastery, Khumbum, Palkor Chode Monastery and Gyantse Dzong / Overnight in hotel (twin room)
Day 05: Gyantse - Yamdruk Lake - Lhasa (3650 m) / Overnight in hotel (twin room)
Day 06: Lhasa tour including Sera Monastery, Jokhang temple and Barkhor Bazaar
Day 07: Lhasa tour including Drepung Monastery and Potala Palace
Day 08: Flight from Lhasa to onward destination
